Analysing Two Adverts (Unit 1)

On Agency

NSPCC

NSPCC stands for National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and is a charity campaigning and working in child protection. This specific advertisement contains a lot of information, this is because they want people to donate and help young children who are in danger, it's trying to get the message across easier. It could be seen to have too much writing, however this is clearly their way of highlighting the need for Childline without being off putting or distressing. Less writing would potentially be more eye catching as long as it stands out. The typography is mostly the same throughout, and is very bold, this represents its importance. The part that says 'She's finally found the courage to phone ChildLine..' is unfinished, this is potentially to get the audience to finish it with something like 'so she needs your help to make a difference'. The blurred image in the background could be representation of the girl being forgotten about and left so being blurred makes it seem like she's not important to her family. We can't see much of the image, of where she is, this could mean that she is in another room, trying to hide to make that phone call. It has very plain colours, such as white and grey then there is green, green can represent 'emotional correspondence with safety' this is strong within this because it's trying to get across to the audience that the young girl isn't safe and people need to donate to help people like her be safe and stop the abuse. The egg in the advertisement is broken, this is a portrayal of the young children being fragile, potentially a reference to Humpty Dumpty being fragile like eggs , because of how they're treated, as it leaves them broken. The easter message is showing that while family's with children are having a nice easter that they should think of other vulnerable children who aren't enjoying there easter due to violence and abuse, these both link with the title being 'be a good egg this easter'.
This campaign is targeted to parents of children who have a respectable life to get them to think of those who don't and those who aren't going to be celebrating easter in the same way, so it's trying to get them to donate to help change their life. For the campaign to work I think that they need to send them to 'warm audience' rather than a cold audience, this because they're likely to read it and help rather than give it a quick look at and not bother to help.

Ashcroft Anthony

Ashcroft-Anthony-Slick-2

Ashcroft Anthony is a Cambridge based accountants firm. This advertisement is very simple containing imagery and the company name. The image is a very much a white/grey shade, grey is quite a balanced colour, being very neutral and often emotionless whereas white is often positive and means safety, purity and cleanliness. Within this image, the neutral colours could potentially just be portraying that it's old fashioned, so it's taken with a film camera rather than colour, you can tell this by the type of clothes the young boy is wearing in it. The company could be trying to say their an accountancy who have been around for a very long time so they are very well skilled and known for what they do. The image has what looks like a female standing on a boy's back, this shows he is helping her, so the message this could be giving out is that they are a company that help people as well as portraying being a company of 'high standard' due to the girl standing higher off the ground on the young boys back. It also takes up the whole advertisement, this represents the importance of the image. The logo is very boldly place on this advertisement, it is central to the right of the image, this makes it very recognisable. It is clearly aimed at those who are aware of the company, because the advertisement has no relevancy to accountancy, so they obviously have a clear target audience, who would be other clients that need accountancy and taxation services. It could only really be place within adverts of the similar genre, or with companies who would be in need of accountancies. The advert is trying to get it's audience to use them because they're good at what they do.
